Defining SAP PI Connections
Note: Create a connection to the SAP NetWeaver server URL before TA can run your SAP PI jobs. These connections must also be licensed before TA can use them.
Adding an SAP PI Connection to TA
To add a connection:
-
Click Administration > Connections on the Navigator pane to display the Connections pane.
-
Click Add and choose SAP PI Adapter option from the list of connection types, or right-click and choose Add Connection > SAP PI Adapter from the context menu to display the Connection Definition dialog.
-
Enter a name for your SAP PI connection in the Name field. This is the name used by TA to identify your SAP PI connection. It does not have to correspond to the actual SAP PI hostname.
-
Enter a number to limit how many jobs can run at once in the Job Limit field of the General tab.
-
Click a runtime user from the list of users with SAP PI passwords in the Default Runtime User list. This is optional and is used to designate a default runtime user when defining a new job for this SAP NetWeaver server.
-
Click the required time zone on the Scheduling Time Zone list.
If you are defining multiple connections to SAP NetWeaver instances, designate a default connection to an SAP NetWeaver instance by selecting the Use as default for SAP PI jobs option for one of the SAP PI connections. If there is only one SAP PI connection, then you do not need to choose this option.
-
Click the SAP PI tab.
-
Type the SAP NetWeaver server’s URL in the SAP NetWeaver Server URL field.
-
Click the user from the drop-down list that the TA Master uses to create a connection to SAP NetWeaver server on the User field.
Note: This may be different from the runtime user that is used for job authorization.
-
Set the number of channels to be displayed in the Channel View Limit field. This field restricts the number of channels viewed in Search and Add Channel screen.
-
Click the Options tab to configure the optional parameters.
-
Click Add to display the Parameter Definition pane.
-
Enter the parameter name and the value in the respective fields and click OK.

Note: Parameter field changes in the existing connection are reflected only if the connection is disabled and enabled again.
SAP PI Agent Lists
Once multiple connections to the SAP NetWeaver server are created, you can create agent lists specific to SAP PI. A SAP PI job is not limited to a specific instance and can use alternate instances if the primary instance is unavailable.
The Agent Lists option of the Navigator pane displays a SAP PI type of agent list. The procedure to create SAP PI agent lists is the same as creating any other agent list.
SAP PI Connection Status
If the TA Master cannot connect or loses its connection to an SAP NetWeaver server, a red status light displays adjacent to your SAP PI connection in the Connections pane. If the SAP NetWeaver Server URL and user credentials are valid, the connection displays as green. Otherwise, the connection displays as red.
