Working with the z/OS Gateway TDS

Starting TDS

The Gateway is started through the Started Tasks. Started Tasks can be configured to start automatically, or the user can start them manually. The TDS must be started after JES2, either via automation, or entering the start command manually.

To start the TDS manually, enter: START TDSPROD.

Stopping TDS

Normally, you would stop the Gateway components by issuing stop to TDSPROD.

Note: The TDS acknowledges the stop command and begins an orderly shutdown of internal components. This includes sending pending job messages and closing log files. This allows for a clean restart. Do not cancel TDSPROD unless it fails to respond to the stop command. Cancel does not allow orderly shutdown and may cause data loss.

You may see additional messages in the job log and in syslog during shutdown. The final message is TAA0034I TDS SERVER EOM RESMGR WAS CALLED. After that it is safe to restart the TDS.
