Job Design Reports

Job Size Metrics Report

This report is used to quickly measure and rank your jobs using different metrics. The Job Size Metrics Report supports rapid discovery of large, complex or important Jobs. For example, rank job trees by total number of jobs in the tree, or rank jobs by the number of jobs that are dependent on that job.

To select the report navigate to Main Menu > Reports > App Reports.

Rank By Measure

Metrics used to rank your job designs include:

Job Tree Metrics

  • Tree Job # – Rank job trees by total number of jobs in the tree (find the biggest job trees).

  • Tree Group # – Rank job trees by total number of group jobs in the tree (find the job trees having the largest number of group jobs).

  • Tree LeafJob # – Rank job trees by the total number of non-group (or leaf jobs) in the tree (find the job trees having the largest number of leaf jobs).

  • Tree Dependency # – Rank job trees by the total number of dependencies (all types) used by all jobs in the tree.

  • Tree Job Dep # – Rank job trees by the total number of job dependencies used by all jobs in the tree.

  • Tree NonJob Dep # – Rank job trees by the total number of non-job dependencies used by all jobs in the tree.

  • Job Level In Tree – Rank jobs in a tree by their level in the job tree hierarchy.

Group Job Metrics

  • Group Child Job # – Rank Group Job in all trees by their total number of immediate child jobs of any type.

  • Group Child Group # – Rank Group Jobs in all trees by their total number of immediate child jobs that are groups.

  • Group Child LeafJob # – Rank Group Jobs in all trees by their total number of immediate child jobs that are leaf jobs.

Job Dependency Metrics

  • Job Direct Dep # – Rank Jobs in all trees by their total number of immediate dependencies of any type (find the jobs that are most dependent on other schedule items).

  • Job Direct Job Dep # – Rank Jobs in all trees by their total number of immediate job dependencies (find the jobs that are most dependent on other jobs).

  • Job Direct NonJob Dep # – Rank Jobs in all trees by their total number of immediate non-job dependencies (find the jobs that are most dependent on non-jobs, e.g., file or variable

    dependencies).

  • Job Direct Successor # – Rank Jobs in all trees by their total number of immediate successors jobs (find the jobs that are most depended on by other jobs in the schedule).

Job By Agent/Agent List

Use this design report to identify jobs using agents or agent lists and determine whether the job is referencing the agent/agent list directly or via inheritance. Choose the report from Main Menu Reports > App Reports.

Report Filters

Description

Agent

  • No Filter – Do not filter by agent.

  • Not using an agent – Filter to jobs that are not using an agent.

  • Using any agent – Filter to jobs that use an agent.

  • By specific agent – Filter to jobs using a specific agent.

Agent Ref

  • No Filter – Do not filter jobs by the type of reference relationship (direct or inherited).

  • Base and Inheriting – Filter to show jobs that reference an agent/agent list directly or via inheritance.

  • Direct Only – Filter to show jobs that reference an agent/agent list directly.

AgentList

  • No Filter – Do not filter by agent list.

  • Not using an agentlist – Filter to jobs that are not using an agent list.

  • Using any agentlist – Filter to jobs that use an agent list.

  • By specific agentlist – Filter to jobs using a specific agent list.

JobClass

  • No Filter – Do not filter by job class.

  • No jobclass – Filter to jobs that have no job class.

  • Having a jobclass - Filter to jobs that have a job class.

  • By specific jobclass - Filter jobs having a specific job class.

Owner

  • No Filter – Do not filter jobs by owner.

  • Not owned - Filter to jobs that are not owned.

  • Having an Owner - Filter to jobs that have any owner.

  • By specific Owner - Filter jobs having a specific owner.

The report displays a summary and table.

  • Summary – Shows the selected connection, filters parameters and the number of jobs found.

  • Table – The result set is sorted by Job Path ascending.

Jobs Exceeding Hierarchy Level Threshold

This report allows you to quickly rank jobs by their levels in the job tree hierarchy and identify those jobs exceeding a level threshold. Select the report from Main Menu > Reports > App Reports.

Report Filters

Description

Warning Level

A numeric integer value that signifies the level in the job tree hierarchy that exceeds the desired threshold. Root Level Jobs in Jobs trees are at level 1.

The report consists of a summary, column chart and table.

  • Summary – Shows the selected parameter.

  • Column Chart – The column shows the jobs count at each level in the tree hierarchies. The columns are arranged left to right in level order beginning with level 1.

  • Table – The table shows the jobs found that exceed the supplied level threshold. Results are grouped by level.

This report shows jobs that are inserted into a schedule via events. Select the report from Main Menu > Reports > App Reports.

Tags Report

The Tags Report displays Tags defined in the connected database. The report is selectable when connected to databases for Tidal 6.5.4 or higher. Choose the report from Main Menu > Reports > App Reports.

  • Any – Do not filter tags by owner.

  • By specific Owner – Filter tags having a specific owner.

Public

  • Any – Fo not filter by the Tag public property.

  • Yes – Show public tags.

  • No – Show non-public tags.

Public

  • Any – Do not filter by the Tag active property.

  • Yes – Show active tags.

  • No – Show inactive tags.

Ref Count

  • Any – Do not filter tags by reference count.

  • = 0 – Filter to show unreferenced tags.

  • > 0 – Filter to show tags referenced by Jobs.

  • Table – Displays the Tags found grouped by Tag Type.

Tag Job Associations Report

The Tag Job Associations Report displays Job/Tag associations defined in the selected database. The report is selectable when connected to databases for Tidal 6.5.4 or higher. Select the report from Main Menu > Reports > App Reports or from the context menu actions in the Tags Report for a specific Tag.

Report Filters

Description

Tags

Filter jobs having associations matching any of the checked Tags.

This filter is a multi-select checkbox list that lets you specify the one or more Tags that you wish to filter by. The selection control can be resized by clicking and dragging the edges of the control.

Show Child Jobs

  • N – do not display child jobs of groups having tag associations (default).

  • Y – display child jobs of groups having tag associations.

The report consists of a summary and table.

  • Summary – Shows the selected connection and filters selected.

  • Table – Displays the Jobs found with Tag association.
