Job SLA Events

Events are triggered when jobs are not completed within the SLAs defined at job level and appropriate actions are taken based on the trigger conditions.

Let us see some examples to know about the events that are triggered during the life span of a job, when the job has not completed on time. Jobs that are not completed during the time window of a Job SLA are said to have violated that SLA.

Here the estimated time and the from time of the job are the same.

If the job has not completed within the estimated time, then the job may complete within the SLA risk window. In this case, the “SLA - Job may complete within the risk window” event is triggered.

If the job has not completed yet, then it may not complete by the end of the SLA risk window or may enter the SLA breach window before its completion. The “SLA - Job may not complete by the end of the risk window” and the “SLA - Job likely to complete within the breach window” events are triggered.

If the job has not completed within its SLA breach time window, then it may breach its SLA. The “SLA - Job may miss the breach window” event is triggered.

If the job has not completed before its estimated time, then it may complete within its SLA risk window. The “SLA - Job likely to complete within the risk window” event is triggered.

The job breaches its SLA, if it has not completed within the SLA breach window. The “SLA - Job likely to miss the breach window” event is triggered.

If the job has not completed before its SLA breach window, then it may complete after the breach window. The “SLA - Job will complete within or after the breach window” event is triggered.

If the job has started running after the estimated time and completes within or after its SLA risk window, the “SLA - Job will complete within or after the risk window” event is triggered. This event is also triggered, if the job has not yet started.

Now the job has started running and is now in its SLA risk window.

The job has completed now and does not require any further SLA computation.

Now the job is active and will not complete at the end of its SLA at risk window. The job will complete within or after its SLA breach window. The “SLA - Job will not complete by the end of the risk window” and the “SLA - Job will complete within or after the breach window” events are triggered.

The job has completed now within its SLA breach time window.

The job is now active within its SLA breach time window.

The job is active now and it will be completed after its SLA breach window. The “SLA - Job will complete within or after the breach window” event is triggered. This event is also triggered, if the job has not started yet.

The job has started running after the end time of its SLA breach window. Hence, no further SLA events are triggered and the job need not be monitored anymore.
