Tags

Tags are a way of categorizing or grouping various objects (for search and organization) in the TA ecosystem. Tagging objects allow the ability to search for objects via those specific tags. The Tags function is used to set up visualization representations of categories of objects using tags.

Tagging is used in conjunction with job definitions and job group definitions.

Search

Enables you to search tags in the Tags Grid pane by allowing you to enter the name or owner of the tags.

Columns

  • Name – The name of the tag.

  • Owner – The owner of the tag. Similar to other objects in the TA system, the tag owner can be any user or a work group or an LDAP group.

  • Public – If a tag is defined as Public, then all TA users can view/edit the tag, else only the specific owner group can view/edit the tag.

  • Active – Displays the active status of the tag.

  • Type – The type of tag.

Note: Business Activity Tags and Filter Tags are the two types of tags that can be defined in the TA system.
You can change the tag type from Filter Tags to Business Activity Tags. However, you cannot change the tag type from Business Activity Tags to Filter Tags, if the Business Activity Tags are referenced in active SLA Rules.
A tag that is not enabled (Active=N) is not accessible. A disabled or an inactive Business Activity Tag cannot be used for tagging a job definition or an SLA Rule.

  • Modified – The last time the tag definition was modified.

Tag procedures

These topics describe the tasks you perform with Tags.

Adding a Tag

  1. Right-click and select Add Tags from the context menu or click Add on the TA toolbar to display the Tags Definition dialog.

If you specify a parent tag, the tag you are adding becomes the child tag of the selected parent and appears below its parent in the tag list hierarchy. If a tag was selected on the pane prior to adding a tag, then the selected tag becomes the default parent in the Parent field.

  2. Click the Owner field, select the new owner from the drop-down menu to change the tag ownership. This is a required field.

  1. Click the Type field, from the drop-down menu, choose the type of tag you are defining. This is a required field.

    • If you select a parent tag, the tag you are editing becomes the child tag of current parent and appears below its parent in the tag list hierarchy.

    • If the Parent field is provided, a circular reference check will be performed to ensure that the parent does not point to its child tag.

  1. Click the Owner field, select the new owner from the drop-down menu to change the tag ownership.

Note: Make sure that the Owner field (required field) is not empty before saving the changes.

    • If you want the tag to be active, check the Active option. Toggling the checkbox enables or disables the tag. If the tag you are editing is a parent tag, then toggling the checkbox displays a confirmation message Do you want to enable/disable all children of Tag <xxx> at this time?
