Installing Agents in Windows
Rights for Installing and Running Agents
The Windows account used to install agents must have the following rights to install and run agents:

Installation rights:
Local administration rights
Ability to access COM objects

Agent user rights:
Local system or, if running under a domain\user account, must be a local administrator on the server and include these local security policies:
Logon as a service
Logon as part of the operating system
Replace a process token
Able to access COM objects
On machines running Windows 2003 or later:
Bypass traverse checking
Adjust memory quotas for the process

Runtime user rights:
Log on as a batch job
Installing an Agent on Windows
To install an agent on Windows:

Download and extract the Tidal Automation Agent for Windows software from the Tidal Support Center in the Customer Portal.

Double-click the Agent_windows_TIDAL Agent.msi file. The Security Warning dialog box is displayed.

Click Run. The Welcome to the TA Agent Setup panel is displayed.
Note: To gauge the effect of agents on system performance, add a single agent at a time, assess performance, and add another agent as allowable.

Click Next. The Destination Folder panel opens.

Specify the directory in which to install the TA software using either of the following actions:

Click Change and choose the appropriate directory.

Accept the default location at C:\Program Files (x86)\TIDAL.

Click Next. The Agent Port Number panel opens.

Enter the port number that the agent will use to connect to the TA Master. The default port is 5912.

Click Next. The Ready to Install the Program panel opens.

Click Install. The Setup Completed panel opens.
Note: Do not click Cancel after the installation process begins copying files in the Setup Status screen. Canceling the installation at this point corrupts the installation.
Note: To uninstall the component, you must complete the installation and then uninstall it. Contact the Tidal Support Center for assistance.

Click Finish.
Verifying the Installation
To verify the agent installed successfully:

Click All Programs > Tidal Automation > Instance Manager From the Windows Start menu on display the Agent Instance Manager application.

Choose the agent from the Agents list such as TIDAL_AGENT_1.
Note: To edit the agent parameters, first stop the Agent and then click Edit to access the Agent Configuration dialog box.
Note: You can also use the Service Manager to verify the agent successful installation.
Uninstalling Windows Agents
You must use the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Windows Control Panel to remove the Windows agent.
To uninstall an agent:

Close the TA client.

Click Settings > Control Panel on the Windows Start menu, then click Add or Remove Programs.

Click the TA Agent program on the list of installed programs.

Choose Remove to start the uninstallation process. When prompted to confirm that you want to uninstall the program, then click OK.

Click Finish to end the uninstallation process.

Reboot the machine to save the changes to the registry.
Note: Occasionally, an empty folder might be left in the Start menu after uninstalling TA components. If this occurs, go to the Programs directory and manually delete the empty folder. The installation log file must also be manually deleted.
